Enterprise, the infrastructure maintenance support services company, announces that its 50/50 Joint Venture (JV) with Mouchel plc, EnterpriseMouchel, has been awarded two contracts by the Highways Agency.
The contracts are for the management, maintenance and operation of the Motorway and All Purpose Trunk Roads in Area 1 and in Area 13.
Area 1 covers part of the south west of England and includes 180 miles of road in Cornwall and parts of Devon. The initial contract period is five years with an option for a two-year extension. The Area 1 contract was first awarded to the JV in 2006. The value of the contract is up to £150m over the first five year period.
Area 13 covers routes totalling around 2000 miles mainly in the county of Cumbria and parts of north Lancashire. The initial contract period is five years with an option for a two-year extension. Mouchel plc currently has the contract for this area in a different JV, first awarded to it in 1997. This contract also has a value of up to £150m over the first five year period.
The required legal and commercial processes have been completed and the commissions are due to begin in July 2010.
Neil Kirkby, Chief Executive of Enterprise stated: “We are very pleased to have been appointed for both of these contracts. The JV won the contract for Highways Agency Area 3 in March 2008 and has now built further upon that success. These awards are more evidence of the strong relationships Enterprise has built with customers and companies with complementary skills and experience.”
