 Our Approach

Background

Enterprise has provided services to Local and Central Government in the UK for over 20 years. Our experience and our systems enable us to deliver perfomance improvement and best value. We are proud of our ability to provide customers with the balance they require, matching funding capability with performance priorities.

We are able to package our services into bundles, aligned to local requirements and to meet the distinctive needs of each customer.  We can also provide waste collection services, street cleaning, highway maintenance and grounds maintenance as single services.

Partnering

Enterprise embraces and practices partnering. Collaboration and engagement are characteristics of our customer relationships. We enter all projects with the success of our partner in mind. The attainment of their corporate objectives and the continued retention of their strategic involvement in the delivery of their services.

Enterprise is committed to an open and co-operative management style, where customer officers, elected members and service stakeholders are engaged in setting strategic service delivery priorities.

We create a non-adversarial, collaborative approach with customers; sharing information and best practice to make services work. Our flexibility of attitude and delivery models allows us to respond to changing circumstances, new priorities and technical innovations.

Business Focused Maintenance

Enterprise shapes its service delivery models around the needs of users and the demands they place on our services. We utilise asset condition information, knowledge of service critical assets and usage patterns to develop unique user focused maintenance services.

We ensure that the work programmes create a high level of asset availability for our customers' corporate estate, constant quality standards of street cleanliness, horticulture excellence and convenient access to services such as waste collection.

Adding Value

We created the Enterprise Foundation, a joint venture focused on economic and social regeneration, to support our community programmes. The Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that assists with local job creation, vocational training, direct investment and business support initiatives.

The added value we create secures better service outcomes for end-users and assists customers to achieve their core purposes. Our use of new technologies, stakeholder engagement and the involvement and integration of complementary services such as street cleaning and grounds maintenance, are central to the added value we can provide.

People

We have wide experience of different employment models. We use direct employment models for the majority of our public services, supplemented by additional capacity or specialist skills provided through our accredited direct service provider model.

Our services are only as assured as the quality of our people. We invest in the technical knowledge of our employees and identify and recruit new talent to maintain our position as a leading service provider.

We have been fortunate to inherit many uniquely skilled employees under TUPE-related agreements. We are committed to protecting the employment conditions of transferring employees and we have been pleased to have implemented TUPE Plus in many staff transfers.

Enterprise is also one of the first organisations to use the Retained Employment Model in frontline local government services. This ‘co-sourcing’ approach provides an alternative, attractive solution to the issue of staff transfers.

Our work with the public sector trade unions at a national and local level has enabled us to share and benefit from model procedures and practices in staff transfers.
