Enterprise is committed to continually reducing the impact of its operations and services upon the environment.
To measure and manage these activities we have five action areas within Environment; these are:

- Carbon management
- Waste
- Environmental Management
There is always more we can do to improve our environmental contribution and minimise our impact. In 2011 we are focusing on collaborating with our customers and stakeholders to improve our carbon and waste management.
We actively monitor carbon emissions from our operations. Following the success of the ‘Carbon Footprint’ data collected in 2010, 2011 sees us working towards a reduction in emissions. We were delighted that the Utilities Division and then the Group as a whole was awarded the CEMARS Carbon standard by Achilies in 2010 alongside a number of other awards won across the Group.
We are working more closely with our supply chain partners to manufacture and distribute innovative new materials made from waste, including recycled backfill and engineering materials.
